Clash reported between Indian army and police in Kashmir
Reports say there has been a serious clash between Indian security forces in the Kishtwar district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
According to The Hindu, around 40 soldiers from the 17 Rashtriya Rifles entered the Atholi police station by crossing its boundary wall. The soldiers were reportedly armed with weapons and sticks.
The report says they attacked police personnel inside the station and also damaged property. The incident created panic and tension in the area.
Following the clash, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against several army personnel, including a major and a commanding officer. The FIR includes charges of attempted murder and assault.
According to the FIR details reported by The Hindu, the attack was pre-planned, and the soldiers intended to harm police officers who were on duty at the station.
This is not the first time such incidents have been reported between police and military or paramilitary forces in the region. Similar clashes have occurred in the past as well.
The incident is seen as a sign of growing tension between different security agencies operating in the region.
Reports also suggest that such internal conflicts highlight serious coordination and control issues within the security setup in the area.
