Report Raises Allegations Linking Bayer Supply Chain to Military Use of Chemicals in Lebanon Conflict

Bayer has been accused in a joint investigation of being indirectly linked to the supply chain of chemicals allegedly used by the Israeli military during its offensive in Lebanon, according to reports by German organizations.
The investigation, conducted by Coordination Gegen Bayer-Gefahren (CBG) and Medico International, claims that the company following its acquisition of Monsanto in 2018 may be connected to the production chain involving glyphosate and white phosphorus. It further alleges that some materials associated with glyphosate production in the United States could be linked to white phosphorus used in the region.
CBG representative Jan Pehrke stated that there is “strong evidence” suggesting phosphorus used in the Middle East conflict originated from Bayer’s glyphosate production facility in Soda Springs, United States. Bayer’s board, however, reportedly denied directly supplying glyphosate to the Israeli or U.S. military during an April 2026 meeting, while not explicitly addressing claims about raw materials used in white phosphorus production.
