Iran Warns It Will Target US Bases Used for Attacks

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has warned that any US military base used to launch attacks against Iran will become a target for Iranian forces.

In a statement, the ministry said the recent US strikes violated the first clause of the memorandum of understanding. It added that the United States bears full responsibility for the serious consequences of the latest escalation.

The statement also said the US attacks had made key parts of the memorandum meaningless. It claimed that violations in the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on Lebanon were further weakening the agreement.

Meanwhile, Iran confirmed that one of its navy personnel was killed in the recent US strikes. According to Iranian media, the serviceman was killed in an attack in the Mahshahr area.

The development comes after the US military carried out large-scale overnight airstrikes on more than 80 military targets in Iran. According to the US military, the operation was launched in response to attacks on three commercial ships in a major maritime route. The strikes targeted military facilities on Qeshm, Kharg, and Sirik islands, as well as in Bandar Abbas.
