Trump Says Russia and Ukraine Want a Deal, Signals Tough Stance on Iran

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump said both Russia and Ukraine want to reach an agreement, stating about the prospects for peace among both Nations. Speaking to media, he explained the recent NATO summit as “very good” and said Ukraine has a “bright future.” Trump also praised Turkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for what he called their significant role in regional diplomacy.

Commenting on the war in Ukraine, Trump said many Ukrainians currently living in Poland want to return to their homeland. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that Trump would continue efforts aimed at securing peace and ending the conflict.

Turning to the Middle East, Trump criticized Iran, saying he was dissatisfied with Tehran’s actions. He alleged that Iran launched drones and missiles at ships the previous day and warned that Iranian targets could potentially be struck later that night. He also described Iran’s conduct as unacceptable and accused it of destabilizing the region for decades.

Trump further said that negotiations with Iran would be a “waste of time” and claimed that the ceasefire with Iran had ended. The remarks reflect the U.S. president’s stated position on the regional situation. The allegations regarding Iran’s reported attacks and any potential military action had not been independently verified at the time of his comments.
