Iran Announces Suspension of Transit Through Strait of Hormuz Amid Regional Tensions

The authority responsible for Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz has announced that transit through the strategic waterway has been suspended following what it described as “illegal movements” by US military forces in the region. The Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) said the passage would remain unavailable until stability and calm are restored.
In a statement posted on its official X account, the PGSA said vessel traffic had been halted due to recent US military activities. The authority added that once conditions return to normal, transit requests will be reviewed and the required permissions will be issued according to scheduling procedures.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime routes for global energy shipments, and any disruption can have wider economic and security implications.
