US Overnight Airstrikes on Iranian Cities Martyred 35 People
The United States carried out overnight airstrikes on several cities in southern and central Iran, causing widespread damage, according to Iranian state media.
The attacks marked the fifth straight day of US strikes on strategic locations across Iran.
Iranian news agencies said US warplanes targeted Bandar Abbas Port, Qeshm Island, Sirik, Chabahar, Rask, and Konarak. Two more strikes were also reported near Khondab in Markazi Province, while loud explosions were heard in Khorramabad.
Iranian officials said a children’s cancer hospital in Ahvaz was heavily damaged during the attacks and had to be evacuated.
According to Iran’s Health Ministry, at least 35 civilians were killed and more than 300 people were injured. Officials said several of the wounded are in critical condition.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had completed the operation, claiming it targeted Iran’s air defence systems, command centres, and missile and drone sites, including in Bandar Abbas. The US said the strikes were aimed at protecting commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Iranian forces claimed they launched missile and drone attacks on several US military bases across the region.
