Foreign Media Acknowledgement of Trump’s Defeat Reflects Iranian Media Efforts: IRGC

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has said that statements by foreign media outlets about US President Donald Trump’s failure in the war against Iran show the success of Iranian revolutionary media in countering what it described as the enemy’s disinformation campaign.

In a statement issued on Saturday to mark Iran’s National Journalists’ Day, the IRGC praised journalists for their role in informing the public and maintaining hope, awareness and truthfulness during difficult times.

“Today, the region and the world are witnessing one of the most complex and consequential battles in contemporary history,” the statement said, referring to the second and third wars waged by the United States and Israel against Iran.

According to the statement, the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran on February 28, targeting Iran’s leadership, senior officials and an elementary school in Minab in southern Iran. The attack reportedly killed 168 children, teachers and parents.

Iranian armed forces responded with attacks on US and Israeli targets in the region. The IRGC said the strikes caused heavy damage to the forces involved in the conflict.

The IRGC claimed that Washington and Israel failed to achieve their main objectives despite their military and media efforts. It said the conflict instead exposed what it described as a strategic deadlock, divisions among Western allies and a decline in their influence.

“World media outlets, acknowledging Washington’s failure to prevail over the Islamic Republic, are openly speaking of Trump’s ‘defeat’ and the ‘self-created trap’ in his war against Iran,” the statement said.

The IRGC added that some media reports had described agreements reached during the conflict as a “document of US surrender” in the face of Iran’s military capabilities and negotiating position.

The military organisation said these assessments reflected Iran’s military strength and deterrence capabilities. It attributed this to the decisions of Iran’s leadership, the resilience of the Iranian people and support for the country’s armed forces.

The IRGC also highlighted the role of Iranian media in the conflict. It said “the intelligent and precise efforts of revolutionary media outlets” helped challenge what it called hostile disinformation and exaggerated reports.

The statement accused Iran’s opponents of using hybrid and cyberwarfare methods, including artificial intelligence, to influence public opinion, distort information and create divisions between the Iranian people and the Islamic Republic.

“The experience of the unrest, particularly the events of January 8 and 9, 2026, taught us that the media dimension of sedition is the most complex and vital part of this equation,” the IRGC said.

It added, “The first narrative will belong to whoever enters the field faster, more accurately and more intelligently.”

The IRGC also praised journalists who continued working during the recent conflict. It said journalists provided updates on developments, reported on civilians and their resistance, covered the suffering of victims and their families, and highlighted what it described as strong national solidarity.

The organisation also paid tribute to journalists who continued their work despite threats and dangerous conditions, noting that some journalists lost their lives while performing their duties.

The IRGC congratulated journalists and media workers on National Journalists’ Day, describing them as “fighters on the front of awareness and the pen” who defend the “frontline of narrative and truth.”
