Trump Threatens Major Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Site, Says Attack Could Come Soon

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has again threatened a major strike against an Iranian nuclear-related site, describing the ongoing military confrontation with Iran as a relatively small matter for the United States.

Speaking to reporters, Trump commented on remarks by Vice President JD Vance, who had avoided describing the current situation as a war.

Trump said that while many people did not consider it a war, he viewed it as a military conflict and argued that it was not a major problem for the United States.

The US president referred to previous American military operations, including those involving Venezuela, and said the confrontation with Iran should also not be viewed as an especially serious challenge for Washington.

Trump specifically identified Pickaxe Mountain in Iran as a possible target, saying the United States could launch heavy attacks against the site very soon.

However, he did not provide a specific date or time for any potential operation.

Pickaxe Mountain is located near Iran’s major nuclear facility at Natanz and is believed to contain heavily fortified underground infrastructure.

Reports indicate that the site includes two tunnel complexes built deep inside the mountain, making it a significantly more difficult target than conventional nuclear facilities.

The depth and hardened nature of the underground structures have raised questions about what type of military operation could be used against the facility and what impact such an attack might have.

Trump’s latest threat comes after Iranian nuclear facilities have already been targeted in previous US and Israeli military operations.

The attacks caused significant damage to Iran’s uranium-enrichment facility at Natanz, according to Iranian authorities and reports surrounding the conflict.

Following the strikes on its nuclear infrastructure, Iran also restricted access for international nuclear inspectors and limited the availability of information to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

A potential US strike on Pickaxe Mountain would represent another major escalation in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

The facility’s fortified underground design could make any attack particularly challenging and could increase the risk of further military retaliation.
