US Pentagon Uses Lie Detectors in Iran War Leak Hunt

06 September, 2026 09:10

The Pentagon has launched an investigation to find the source of leaks about US weapons stockpiles during the ongoing war with Iran, according to US media reports. Around 50 senior military and civilian officials were reportedly subjected to polygraph, or lie-detector, tests as part of the probe.

The investigation comes after reports raised concerns that the United States was running low on some important munitions, including missile interceptors and other advanced weapons. The reports said heavy use during the Iran conflict had put pressure on US supplies.

The Trump administration has strongly rejected claims that the US is facing a serious ammunition shortage. President Donald Trump previously said the country had plenty of ammunition, while acknowledging that the US would like to have more of some sophisticated weapons.

The Pentagon has not publicly confirmed details of the polygraph investigation, saying it does not comment on internal personnel matters. The probe highlights growing concern inside the US military over the disclosure of sensitive information during the Iran conflict.
