9 Million Barrels of Oil Passing Through Strait of Hormuz Daily, US Energy Secretary Says

WASHINGTON: US Energy Secretary Chris Wright has said that around 9 million barrels of oil are currently passing through the Strait of Hormuz each day.

In a statement, Wright said the continued movement of crude through the strategic waterway would help ease pressure on energy prices in international markets.

He also noted that oil shipments were continuing through regional pipeline networks, providing an alternative route for some energy supplies.

According to Wright, the continued movement of oil through the Strait of Hormuz depends heavily on the presence of the US Navy in the region.

He said American naval forces were providing security escorts for oil tankers to protect them against potential attacks by Iran.
