21 people killed when their van plunged into Indus River in Rondu, Gilgit-Baltistan.

The spokesperson for the GB government Faizullah Firaq confirmed the deaths in a statement issued after the mishap.

He said tat 25 passengers were travelling in the van from Rawalpindi to Skardu.

The van fell into the Indus River in Rondu district.

21 people killed

However, rescue team said they have taken out 9 bodies so far.

The contingent of Pakistan Army is also taking part in the relief and the rescue operation.

Gilgit Baltistan chief minister has expressed grief over the dreadful road accident.

Moreover, he has directed the concerned authorities to extend every possible help in the rescue operations and provision of best medical facilities to the injured.

Initially, the authorities concerned have not ascertained what caused the accident.
