AJK President blames India for intensifying atrocities in IOK amid coronavirus challenge.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan made the remarks during his visit to National Disaster Management Authority in Islamabad on Thursday.

He met with its Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal.

Masood Khan said India has intensified atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir amidst coronavirus challenge.

He pointed out that Indian occupation forces are killing Kashmiri youth in detention centers.

The AJK President appreciated the highly effective role which NDMA is playing in the fight against coronavirus.

He also lauded the provision of personal protective equipment to the doctors and medical staff of Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal said that the testing capacity for Corona Virus is consistently being increased.

On the other hand, healthcare professionals fear that the territory may become a new epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They expressed apprehension due to coronavirus cases surge in India.

According to KMS reports, the occupied territory is having one of the most unprepared and understaffed public health system.

IOJK has recorded 380 coronavirus cases but this number is thought to be a gross underestimation.

Report cited shortage of N95 masks and personal protective equipment kits.

Doctors note supply-chain problems since long while IOJK has only 215 ventilators for a population of approximately 13 million people.
