FM highlights Pakistan reconciliatory role during meeting with Hekmatyar.

Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad today.

FM highlights Pakistan reconciliatory role

Qureshi said Pakistan has been playing its reconciliatory role in Afghan peace process with sincerity.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan categorically stated that the only way for durable peace in Afghanistan is Afghan-owned political dialogue.

He said we are happy that Pakistan’s perspective is being appreciated at global level today.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said peace and stability in the region is linked to long-lasting peace in Afghanistan.

He said the Afghan leadership has a unique opportunity in the form of intra-Afghan talks to restore peace in Afghanistan.

The Minister said Pakistan will continue its efforts for peace in the region, including Afghanistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said we consider Pakistan as our second home.

Earlier, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, along with a delegation arrived Islamabad on a three-day visit to Pakistan.

During the visit he will call on the Prime Minister and President.

He will also hold meetings with Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly and other officials.

He will deliver a talk at a policy think-tank and interact with the media.

The visit of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s visit provides an opportunity for exchange of views on the Afghan peace process.

Moreover, the visit signals strengthening of Pakistan-Afghanistan bilateral relations and people-to-people interaction.
