Fifth round of Pakistan EU strategic dialogue being held today.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell would co chair.

Fifth round of Pakistan EU strategic dialogue being held

Pakistan-European Union Strategic Dialogue’s fifth round is being held virtually today (Tuesday).

The virtual discussion will focus on sharing assessments on the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, it would discuss actions taken which the respective sides took to mitigate its negative socio-economic impacts.

In this regard, promoting international cooperation, including Prime Minister Imran Khan’s call for debt relief for developing countries, will also come under discussion.

Foreign Minister and High Representative will review the implementation of Pakistan-European Union Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP). Both sides signed the SEP in June last year.

The Strategic Dialogue will also include exchange of views on regional and international issues.

Pakistan sees the EU as a traditional friend of Pakistan and a major trading and investment partner.

Both sides pursue the relations between the two sides through regular high-level engagements, robust institutional arrangements and structured dialogues.

Ahead of the Strategic Dialogue, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora also held the sixth round of Pakistan-European Political Dialogue on October 6, 2020..

It aimed at advancing bilateral cooperation.
