COAS says enhanced Pakistan Iran cooperation will have positive impact on regional peace and stability.

Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed these views while talking to Iran Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

The latter called on him in Rawalpindi during his ongoing visit to Pakistan.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif appreciated Pakistan’s positive role for regional stability, especially Afghan peace process.

Talking to Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa , he also pledged to keep working for better relations between the two brotherly countries.

The Army Chief said enhanced Pakistan-Iran cooperation will have positive impact on regional peace and stability.

The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security situation, including Afghan reconciliation process.

Moreover, they also exchanged views on Pak-Iran border management and border markets.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and Iran have agreed to make joint efforts for peace and stability in the region, including Afghanistan.

They reached this understanding during meeting of Iran FM Javad Zarif meets Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad today (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, Irna reported that on arrival at the Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi the visiting dignitary was presented guard of honour.

He laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay homage to martyrs.

After the ceremony, two high-ranking officials held talks on important issues. They included: the fight against terrorism, strengthening border cooperation, defense and expanding military relations between the two neighboring countries.

The two sides also reviewed the latest security developments in the region, especially the situation in Afghanistan, and shared each other’s views.

Zarif and General Bajwa stressed the need to expand comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Pakistan. Specially in the field of security and the protection of common borders, which is called the border of peace and friendship between the two countries.
