PM directs for necessary steps for further improvement in power sector during a meeting held in Islamabad today (Monday).Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over the meeting that reviewed reforms in the energy sector.

He said all stakeholders must fulfill their responsibilities in this regard within stipulated period.

Imran Khan emphasized the need to finalize a mechanism to rationalize subsidy on electricity only to the poor and deserving people.

Meanwhile, the officials briefed the meeting in detail about the administrative matters relating to power sector.

Furthermore, they briefed regarding the cost of power generation and distribution system.

Those attended the meeting included: Federal Ministers Hammad Azhar, Shibli Faraz, Asad Umar, Umar Ayub Khan.

Moreover, advisers to the PM: Abdul Razzak Dawood, Hafeez Sheikh, Special Assistants Nadeem Babar, Tabish Gohar and senior officers also attended.

During the meeting on Coastal Oil Refinery, the PM underscored the addition of another refinery as good omen for the country’s petroleum sector.

He presided over the meeting about the establishment of Pak Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO) Coastal Oil Refinery.

The PM said that he completion of oil refinery project would help in energy sector.

Furthermore, he said the completion besides improving the capacity would also enable the country achieve its capability of producing oil products at local level.

Minister for Power Umar Ayub Khan, Special Assistant to PM Nadeem Babar and senior officials attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, officials concerned told the meeting regarding work on the construction of terminal.

Moreover, that work will begin within the next six months, while the work on the establishment of refinery will begin after one year.
