Rs350m approved for sugar related video Analytics Surveillance system.

Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet made this approval during its meeting in Islamabad today (Monday).

Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh presided over the ECC meeting. .

It approved Rs 350 million for procurement and installation of video Analytics Surveillance system for monitoring of the production and sale of sugar.

According to the plan, they will install the most optimal VAS solution at the sugar mills’ premises during the current crushing season.

Meanwhile, the officials briefed the ECC on detailed report from the Implementation Committee.

The report related conversion of MoUs into agreements with Independent Power Producers to devise a payment mechanism for clearing outstanding payables.

The Implementation Committee has agreed the payment mechanism with the 46 IPPs to clear the outstanding dues as on 30th November 2020.

Moreover, the ECC approved the report of the Implementation Committee for working out a viable payment mechanism with the IPPs.

Specially, it will save approximately 836 billion rupees for the Government over the average life of the projects.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the authorities concerned to accord special emphasis to reduce the burden of indirect taxes on the people.

He gave these directives, while chairing a meeting of his economic team in Islamabad on Monday.

Furthermore, he noted that the indirect taxes burden the poor segments of the society the most.
