PM Imran Khan will take a vote of confidence from the National Assembly, ruling PTI leaders announced.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf made this announcement. Other bigwigs of the PTI also accompanied him during the press conference in Islamabad today.

They included Shafqat Mehmood, Asad Umar, Shireen Mazari, Fawad Chaudhry, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Hammad Azhar and others.

The decision came in the backdrop of an upset in Senate elections.

Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani of Pakistan Peoples’ Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) won the general seat from Federal Capital.

PTI has unanimously decided that Prime Minister Imran Khan will take a vote of confidence from the National Assembly.

Furthermore, Qureshi described the victory of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani as negation of democracy.

He also noted this as an endorsement of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s apprehensions of corrupt practices in the Senate elections.

Moreover, he said the voting for capital’s general seat strengthened the PTI’s narrative about use of money in the Senate elections.

Shah Mahmood recalled that they had apprehended regarding buying of the elections.

He further said that the PTI had already feared the buyers of conscience will buy the votes using the name of democracy.
