Babar, Rizwan remain unsold in The Hundred

21 March, 2024 09:06

Former captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan remained unsold in The Hundred draft held on Wednesday.

They entered late in the drafts for the men’s tournament scheduled to be played in July. However, only three players from Pakistan secured contracts during the draft.

Among those, Naseem Shah was highest paid pick with a price tag of £125,000 by Birmingham Phoenix, while Pakistan T20 Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi was picked by Welsh Fire for £100,000 and former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim was roped in by Trent Rockets for £100,000 as well.

Two Pakistan players were already retained by their teams ahead of the draft. Manchester Originals had decided to keep leg-spinner Usama Mir (£60,000) on their roster, while Welsh Fire had opted to retain pacer Haris Rauf (£75,000).

The tournament’s fourth edition is set to kick off from July 23 with the defending champions, Oval Invincibles, hosting Birmingham Phoenix.
