Important progress has been made in the negotiations between Hamas and Israel regarding the Gaza ceasefire in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
According to the Egyptian state broadcasting agency, important progress has been made in the talks between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egypt and Qatar, and the main and controversial points have been agreed upon between the parties.
According to the Arab media, after agreeing on the main points of the agreement in the negotiations, the delegations of Qatar and Hamas have left, while the delegations of the United States and Israel will leave a few hours later.
The report added it has also been agreed to continue negotiations between the parties for the Gaza ceasefire agreement and start the second round of negotiations two days later.
The parties involved in the negotiations, including Hamas, have not commented on the news about the progress in the Egyptian TV talks.
Earlier, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said that Tel Aviv would not agree to a ceasefire without the release of hostages. On the other hand, Hamas reiterated its demands, including a permanent ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and a return of displaced people.
Netanyahu said that despite growing international pressure, Tel Aviv would not quit extreme demands from Hamas.
