Gary Kirsten reveals reason behind Pakistan’s poor T20 World Cup
Head Coach Gary Kirsten has revealed the reason behind Pakistan’s poor T20 World Cup campaign.
The Men in Green crashed out from the tournament in the group stage after losing to USA and India.
However, Kirsten, who joined the team during England T20I series, addressed concerns over the players’ fitness levels not meeting expectations.
According to him the team was lacking unity throughout their campaign, which was the reason behind poor show in the mega-event.
His statement added fuel to the rift rumours between the players, which was highlighted by former captains Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram.
Moreover, he was optimistic of securing better results by selecting players who value unity, prioritise fitness, and enhance their skills.
The report further quoted him saying that the team lags significantly in skill compared to international standards, noting a lack of clarity in shot selection despite extensive match experience.
Kirsten unequivocally stated that players who demonstrate improvements in these areas will earn their place in the team, while those who do not will face exclusion.
