JI to hold massive protest against ‘LG poll rigging’ in Karachi today
Pakistan’s religio-political party has announced a protest today on the Karachi’s key thoroughfare Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Addressing a presser at its local headquarters, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Munem Zafar announced to hold the protest against what he called rigging in yesterday’s local government by-elections.
“A massive protest will be held today at 4pm on Shahrah-e-Faisal against rigging in yesterday’s by-elections by the PPP,” the JI leader told newsmen on Friday.
He said: “The PPP has once again rigged the elections yesterday. They had earlier stolen mandate in May 7 local government elections.”
Munem further said that stealing mandate has become a tradition of the PPP. JI’s 3,000 votes had been reduced to 2,415 yesterday and PPP’s votes jumped to 4,361 after manpulation, he said.
The JI chief said that the people of Karachi well aware of the PPP performance.
