05 December, 2024 15:30

The value of the digital currency Bitcoin has crossed the $100,000 mark (more than Rs2.77 million) for the first time in history.

The price of the world’s largest cryptocurrency is just over 120,000 dollars (more than RS28.5 million).

Since the beginning of 2024, the price of Bitcoin has increased by more than 140 per cent, and since the US presidential election, it has seen a 48 per cent increase.

Bitcoin crossed the $100,000 mark after US President-elect Donald Trump appointed Paul Atkins as the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, which advocates easing restrictions on cryptocurrencies.

Trump expressed his interest in cryptocurrencies during his election campaign, saying that he would replace the current head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Gary Gensler, who has been very strict against digital currencies.

In recent years, the value of Bitcoin has seen a number of rapid increases and then sudden decreases.

But according to experts, the value of cryptocurrencies at the moment depends on the US policies, it is believed that the value of Bitcoin may increase further.
