ICC to decide Champions Trophy’s fate tomorrow
ICC releases new promo of Pakistan team
The fate of the ICC Champions Trophy is at stake as the International Cricket Council set to meet tomorrow (Wednesday) in Dubai.
The decisive meeting will occur on Wednesday to finalize the tournament’s hosting saga and the proposed hybrid model.
An official confirmation for the hybrid model is expected from the body, which would likely to be applicable to all events scheduled in India through 2027 as well.
The PCB has argued that India’s claims of security concerns preventing its team from traveling to Pakistan are unfounded.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that India does not send its team to Pakistan, it will reciprocate by not participating in any future ICC events hosted by the neighbours.
India are set to host three major ICC event till 2027, the Champions Trophy, Women’s World Cup, and the T20 World Cup.
Furthermore, the PCB is advocating for the inclusion of bilateral agreements between the Pakistan and India boards in the host agreement for the Champions Trophy, though details on this matter remain scarce.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan in February and March of next year.
