Pakistan’s Murree glass train project moves forward with feasibility study
A feasibility study for the proposed “Murree Tourist Glass Train” project, designed to connect Islamabad to Murree, is set to be completed by April 30, 2025.
The study is being conducted by the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK).
Upon completion, the findings will undergo review and approval by the relevant authorities, after which an international tender will be issued for the project contract. The project will be implemented through a public-private partnership model.
The proposed tourist train route will span 55 kilometers, connecting H-9 Railway Station in Islamabad to the popular hill station of Murree.
A recent meeting held at the NESPAK House in Islamabad, chaired by Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, discussed critical aspects of the project.
The feasibility study will assess factors such as the condition of the railway tracks, station requirements, geological conditions, environmental considerations, and other important elements necessary for the project’s successful execution.
NESPAK representatives outlined the key steps involved, which will help determine the route and overall costs. The completion of the study will pave the way for the project’s approval and the awarding of the contract.
