PTCL says teams working to resolve cable issue
The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has said that due to an international submarine cable outage, internet users may experience slow browsing issues in the country.
PTCL said in a statement today that teams are working to address the issue as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time,
Since last year, Pakistan has been grappling with slow internet and the government consistently blaming submarine cable faults. HOwever, reports hint at possible experimentation with a firewall by authorities.
The internet slowdown is specially causing problems for freelancers, which are over two million and contribute to the country’s growth.
The statement of PTCL came a day after the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said that internet and broadband users may face disruptions as submarine cable AAE-1 near Qatar developed a fault.
It further said that a fault has been reported in the submarine cable AAE-1 near Qatar, one of the seven international undersea cables connecting Pakistan for international internet traffic.
It said that the teams are working to fix the fault and the PTA is monitoring the situation and will keep updating telecom users accordingly.
