Pakistan, Uzbekistan strengthen military ties with high-level defence talks

A high-level defence delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Major General Burkhonov Akhmad Jamalovich, Deputy Minister of Defence & Commander of the Air Defence Forces and Air Force, met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters, Islamabad, on Monday. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral military cooperation, joint training, and technological collaboration in aerospace domains.

Upon arrival, Major General Burkhonov was presented with a Guard of Honour by a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent. During discussions, the Air Chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Uzbekistan in pilot training and technical skill development for maintenance crews. He highlighted the strong military ties between the two nations, emphasizing shared cultural and religious bonds.

The Uzbek delegation praised the professionalism of PAF personnel and expressed interest in expanding their Mushshak aircraft fleet through procurement from Pakistan. Both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in cyber, space, and electronic warfare technologies.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured PAF Cyber Command and the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre, receiving briefings on PAF’s operational capabilities. The visit underscored the commitment of both countries to deepening their defence partnership and regional security cooper
