Hamas will have to pay a heavy price if it doesn’t release hostages immediately: Trump
US President Donald Trump has once again warned the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas that it will have to pay a price if it does not release all the hostages held in Gaza.
Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened that Hamas leaders have the last chance to leave Gaza. Trump stepped up pressure on Hamas to release the hostages.
Trump said in a statement released on his social media that it is time for Hamas to leave Gaza, this is the last warning, Hamas should immediately release all hostages imprisoned in Gaza.
The US president warned that Hamas would have to pay a price if it did not release the hostages.
“A beautiful future awaits the people of Gaza,” Trump added.
It should be noted that the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire ended on Saturday, after which Israel unilaterally announced a temporary extension of the ceasefire on the condition that Hamas release more hostages without starting the second phase of the ceasefire.
Hamas, however, refused to extend the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement on Israeli demand.
After Hamas’s refusal, Israel blocked the entry of all kinds of goods, including food, into Gaza.
In the first phase of the ceasefire, Hamas handed over 25 hostages and eight bodies to Israel in Gaza, in exchange for the release of about 1,800 Palestinian prisoners.
Hamas took 251 hostages in the October 7, 2023 attack, of whom 58 are still in Gaza, including 34 who have been declared dead by Israeli forces, the report said.
On Wednesday, the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas confirmed direct talks with the United States for the release of the hostages.
