President Zardari addresses joint parliament session amid opposition’s protest

10 March, 2025 15:25

President Asif Ali Zardari is currently addressing the joint session of parliament.

PTI-led opposition members are staging a noisy protest during his speech.

This is Asif Ali Zardari’s eight address as a president to the joint session of parliament.

Earlier, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq presided over the joint session of the parliament, which formally started with the recitation of the Holy Quran after the national anthem, followed by Naat (PBUH).

Today, no other proceedings will be held in the House except the president’s address. After the president’s address, the session will be adjourned.

Zardari said that it is his singular privilege as a president to address for the eighth time the opening of the parliamentary year.

He added that this moment marked not only the continuation of democratic journey but also provided us an opportunity to review our progress.

The president urged the House to promote good governance and political economic stability.

He said that the country’s economy has stabilized in the last one year. Policy rate reduced and record increase in foreign exchange was witnessed. But, he added, we have to pay full attention to the public service sector and further improve the tax system.
