Eid Traffic Plan: Karachi restricts Taxis and Rickshaws
Karachi Traffic Police have introduced a traffic management plan to handle the expected surge of shoppers ahead of Eidul Fitr 2025. The initiative aims to ease congestion in busy commercial areas of the city.
A traffic police official stated that rickshaws, taxis, and online taxi services will not be allowed to enter Teen Talwar to prevent traffic jams. If congestion occurs in this area, alternative routes such as Clifton Bridge, Race Course, and Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road will be utilized.
Similar restrictions will apply from Allah Wali Chowk on Tariq Road to Ittihad Signal, as well as in Saddar, from Fawara Chowk to GPO and Singer Chowk to Zeb-un-Nisa Street. Additionally, in the Jama Cloth Market vicinity, rickshaws and taxis will be prohibited from Tibet Chowk to Eid Gah Chowk.
To facilitate smooth traffic flow, vehicles coming from Millennium Mall Road can use Millennium Bridge to reach NEPA. The entry of rickshaws and taxis will also be restricted near Haidery Market.
Furthermore, commercial traffic from North Karachi will be rerouted from Five Star Chowrangi to Ship Owner Chowrangi and Lundi Kotal Chowrangi. Similarly, traffic from the Board Office will be diverted from KDA Chowrangi to Ziauddin Chowrangi and Paharganj.
The traffic plan aims to ensure a smoother shopping experience for Karachi residents during the festive season.
