KARACHI – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has denied recent reports claiming that it will not be issuing fresh banknotes for Eid-ul-Fitr.

In an official statement, SBP confirmed that it will continue its longstanding practice of distributing fresh banknotes to commercial banks across Pakistan, ensuring the public can access new currency notes through the banks’ nationwide branch networks.

Rs. 27 Billion in Fresh Banknotes Issued

As part of this initiative, SBP has already issued Rs. 27 billion in fresh banknotes of all denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks for onward distribution to the public.

Additionally, SBP has ensured that ATMs across the country will remain operational and provide good-quality banknotes during the festive season.

Strict Monitoring for Fair Distribution

To ensure a smooth and fair distribution, SBP has deployed cash monitoring teams to conduct on-site inspections at commercial bank branches. These teams will ensure that fresh banknotes are properly disbursed and available for the general public.

SBP’s announcement reassures citizens that fresh banknotes will be accessible during Eid-ul-Fitr, maintaining a long-held tradition of providing new currency for festive celebrations.
