Emirates ID card fee for newborn in UAE updated – March 2025

21 March, 2025 15:03

The Emirates ID is a mandatory identification document issued by the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship. It is required for all UAE citizens and residents, including newborn babies.

This ID helps confirm a person’s identity and is used for various services, including government facilities, hospitals, and more. Failing to obtain it can lead to legal consequences for both nationals and expatriates, including Pakistanis.

Emirates ID for Newborn Babies

All residents of the UAE must obtain an Emirates ID for their newborns. The process involves a few important steps:

1. Birth Registration

After the child is born, parents must register the birth with the UAE Ministry of Health to get an official birth certificate.

2. Passport Application

A passport must be issued for the newborn. UAE nationals can apply through the Ministry of the Interior, while expatriates, such as Pakistanis, need to apply through their home country’s embassy in the UAE.

3. Emirates ID Application

Once the passport is ready, parents can apply for the Emirates ID.

Emirates ID Fee for Newborns

The fee for obtaining an Emirates ID depends on the card’s validity period and the service provider handling the application.
For a card with a two-year validity, the total cost is around AED 462. This includes the card fee, service charges, and processing costs.

The Emirates ID is essential for accessing various services in the UAE and must be obtained soon after a child is born. Parents are advised to complete the process promptly to avoid any legal or service-related issues.
