Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s influence on the Taliban has ended and sought the task of negotiating with the Taliban, claiming to bring the group to the table.
Talking to senior journalists in Islamabad, Gandapur said that on the day of the election, we were hiding in the mountains and did not have any meeting.
Out of 95 chairmen of the union councils, there were only three, the rest were not known.
He said that it has been two and a half months that the plan of talks with the Taliban has been given, bit it has not been implemented.
Give me the task, I negotiate with the Taliban and make the Taliban sit on the table as this is the only solution, he said.
Gandapur further said that:” if you give me the task, Then I will be seen sitting with Akhundzada tomorrow, there is no contact with the Taliban at present.
Taliban’s lower level leaders have contact with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.”
