Atlas Honda to Launch First ‘E-Bike BENLY’ in Pakistan

26 March, 2025 13:56

Atlas Honda, Pakistan’s top motorcycle brand, is launching its first electric bike, the Benly, in June 2025. With an 85% share in the petrol bike market, Honda’s move into electric vehicles (EVs) matches global trends. Despite high prices and few charging stations, experts believe Honda’s strong reputation will help boost EV adoption in Pakistan.

The Benly e-scooter, previewed earlier, is expected to attract many buyers.

Benly Models & Price

The bike is priced at PKR 900,000, with four variants:

  • Benly e: I
  • Benly e: I Pro
  • Benly e: II
  • Benly e: II Pro

Key Features

  • Size: 1820mm (L) x 710mm (W) x 1025mm (H)
  • Weight: 125 kg
  • Battery: Lithium-ion (no maintenance needed)
  • Top Speed: 72 km/h (45 mph)
  • Range: 100 km per charge
  • Tires: 110-9 PR (Front & Rear)
  • Power: 3.7W at 3000 RPM

EV Growth in Pakistan

Electric bikes make up less than 5% of sales, but Honda’s entry could change that. Rising fuel costs and pollution concerns may push more people toward EVs.

Challenges for EVs in Pakistan

  • Few charging stations
  • Expensive electricity
  • Slow government policies
  • High upfront cost compared to petrol bikes

To succeed, Pakistan needs more local EV production, better charging infrastructure, and clear policies.

Government Plans for EVs

Pakistan aims for 30% electric vehicles by 2030. The EV policy cuts charging costs by 44% and supports private charging stations. If successful, EVs could save money, reduce pollution, and create jobs.

Electric bikes cost three times less to run than petrol bikes, which could save billions yearly. This shift could lead to a cleaner and more stable economy.
