Petrol Prices in Pakistan to be cut by Rs3 per litre from 1 April

26 March, 2025 19:53

ISLAMABAD – In a much-needed relief for Pakistanis ahead of Eidul Fitr, fuel prices are expected to decrease starting April 1, 2025, following a decline in global oil prices.

According to sources familiar with the matter, petrol prices could drop by Rs3-3.50 per litre, while diesel prices may decrease by Rs3 per litre. The final decision will be made by the Finance Minister, as the government aims to provide economic relief during the festive season.

This time, the global market has seen a drop of $1.50 per barrel in petrol prices (from $7.24 to $5.84 per barrel) and a $0.60 per barrel decrease in diesel prices. These reductions are expected to have a positive impact on fuel prices in Pakistan.

Potential Economic Relief for Citizens

If implemented, this price cut will offer significant relief to the public, easing financial strain amid rising inflation and economic hardships. Lower fuel costs could also lead to reduced transportation expenses and a minor drop in the prices of essential goods.

Current Fuel Prices (March 2025)

Earlier this month, despite speculation about a price cut, fuel rates remained unchanged. The Finance Division confirmed the following prices:

  • Petrol: Rs 255.63 per litre

  • Diesel: Rs 258.64 per litre

  • Kerosene: Rs 168.12 per litre

  • Light Diesel: Rs 153 per litre

The upcoming price adjustment on April 1, 2025, will be closely watched by consumers and businesses alike. If approved, the fuel price reduction will serve as a much-needed economic relief for millions across the country.
