ITP cracks down on overcharging public transport
ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has intensified its campaign against public transport operators overcharging passengers, taking strict action to ensure fare compliance across the federal capital.
An ITP spokesperson stated that special squads have been deployed at major bus terminals, including Faizabad, Mandi Mor, Karachi Company, and 26 Number Chungi, to monitor fare violations. Officers are inspecting fare lists and taking action against transporters found charging above approved rates.
During the crackdown, multiple violators were issued challan tickets, and affected passengers were refunded the excess amount collected. The ITP warned that strict enforcement will continue, with zero tolerance for fare violations.
Citizens are urged to report any incidents of overcharging or misconduct by transporters to the ITP helpline at 1915. The campaign aims to protect commuters from exploitation and ensure fair pricing in public transport.
