Canada announces 25pc tariff on US car imports

Canada has announced a 25 per cent tariff on US vehicle imports after President Donald Trump announced additional tariffs.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Trump’s trade war would destroy the global economy.

On the other hand, the IMF also described the US tariffs as a major threat to the global economy and said that the US should avoid actions that harm the global economy at the time of slow growth.

The European Union called the US tariffs a “big blow” to the global economy and announced preparations for retaliatory measures, while the French government said Trump’s tariffs would be responded alongwith with the Europe.

In addition, China demanded the cancellation of the new tariffs, and in this regard, the Japanese prime minister said that the US president’s move is unfair.
