Laila Zuberi opens up about offer in Bollywood film ‘Hina’

Pakistani actresses who were offered the role of heroine in the Indian film “Hina” include drama artists Shahnaz Sheikh and Marina Khan as well as Laila Zuberi.
This was revealed by Laila Zuberi during a conversation in a podcast. She said that Raj Kapoor himself offered her the role.
Talking about her meeting with Raj Kapoor, She said: “I met Raj Kapoor during the Sharjah Cricket Cup in 1986.
She further said that Raj Kapoor looked very impressed with the talent of Pakistani actors.
The actress said that this was the time when Pakistani dramas were shown to teach acting at Poona Academy.
Laila said that in the same meeting, Raj Kapoor had offered to work in the film ‘Hina’, which was also offered to Shahnaz Sheikh and Marina Khan earlier.
“I had rejected Raj Kapoor’s offer with thanks,” she said.
She added: “My husband was a Pakistan Army officer and I did not find it appropriate for me to go and work in India.”
It is to be noted that the role of heroine in the film Hina was later played by Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiar and the film proved to be a blockbuster.
