Punjab Police launches digital e-license program

digital e-license program
In a move aimed at improving traffic law enforcement and reducing instances of unlicensed driving, the Punjab Police have launched a new digital e-license program.
This initiative allows drivers to carry a digital version of their driving licenses on their mobile devices, making it easier for law enforcement agencies to verify licenses during vehicle stops.
The digital e-license system is designed to streamline the process of license verification and reduce the burden of carrying a physical license. With the introduction of this system, drivers will now be able to access their licenses digitally via their smartphones, eliminating the need for physical documents during routine traffic checks.
How the E-License System Works
Eligible citizens can access their digital driving licenses through the official website of the Punjab Licensing Information Management System (dlims.punjab.gov.pk). To obtain their e-license, users must simply visit the site, navigate to the License Information tab, and click on the “E-License” button.
After submitting their CNIC number and date of birth, users can download their e-license in PDF format, which will serve as a valid proof of their driving authorization when requested by law enforcement officials.
Fee Structure for Driving Licenses in Punjab
The introduction of the e-license program is accompanied by a clear and structured fee system for obtaining or renewing driving licenses in Punjab. The fees for acquiring a driving license are as follows:
Test Fee: PKR 150 for new applicants
One-Year License: PKR 1,980
Two-Year License: PKR 3,330
Three-Year License: PKR 4,680
Four-Year License: PKR 6,030
Five-Year License: PKR 7,380
Key Benefits of the E-License Program
The Punjab Police’s e-license initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the reduction of unlicensed driving, which is a pressing issue in the region. By making it easier for drivers to verify their licenses digitally, the system is expected to foster better compliance with traffic regulations and enhance public safety.
Furthermore, the e-license program aligns with the Punjab Police’s broader efforts to integrate technology into governance and improve citizen services. The digital solution mirrors the same benefits of a physical license, offering a modern, efficient alternative to traditional documentation.
The program reflects a growing trend of using technology to improve public services and strengthen law enforcement. It provides a win-win scenario by easing the verification process for law enforcement agencies while making it more convenient for drivers.
With the introduction of the digital e-license system, Punjab becomes a leader in utilizing technology to modernize its traffic management and license verification system, promising a safer and more efficient driving experience for all.
