Ishaq Dar arrives in Kabul with message of peace and unity

19 April, 2025 12:52

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Kabul on Saturday for a one-day official visit. His trip carries a message of peace and friendship from Pakistan to Afghanistan.

Dar was warmly welcomed at the airport by senior Afghan officials, including the Deputy Minister for Finance and the Director General of the Afghan Foreign Ministry. Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, and other embassy staff were also present.

Before leaving from Noor Khan Airbase, Dar spoke to the media, stressing the need to rebuild strong ties between the two neighboring Muslim countries.

He said both nations must work together for economic progress and the well-being of their people. “We’ve always had a brotherly relationship, and it should remain that way,” he said.

Dar admitted that relations between the two countries had become strained recently, mainly due to security concerns and terrorism. However, he remained hopeful that things could improve through dialogue and cooperation.

He also highlighted the potential for trade and economic growth. Dar mentioned that a railway connection through Afghanistan could link Pakistan to Central Asia, but said this would require Afghanistan to set up its own railway system.

During the visit, Dar is expected to meet top Afghan leaders to discuss regional peace, trade, and ways to improve ties between the two countries.
