Centre, Sindh agree to negotiate canal dispute

The federal and Sindh governments have agreed to resolve the canal issue through negotiations on Sunday, GTV news reported.
On the instructions of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah contacted Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon over the phone, in which Rana Sana said that he was ready to hold talks with Sindh on the issue of canals.
Rana Sanaullah added that Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif have directed that Sindh’s reservations on the issue of canals be removed.
Sharjeel Memon said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Sindh government have serious reservations about drawing canals from the Indus River. The PPP is also ready to negotiate with the federal government on the issue of canals.
However, he said that the PPP wants fair distribution of water for the people of Sindh under the 1991 agreement.
Earlier, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that we are the ones who say ‘Long live Pakistan’  not the ones who say the opposite. Benazir Bhutto was called the symbol of unity for the country. After her martyrdom, some people talked about breaking away from Pakistan, but President Zardari raised the slogan ‘Pakistan Khappay’ (Long live Pakistan), if someone wants to bring a revolution in the country, they must include Hyderabad in it.
Addressing a power show in Hyderabad against the proposed new canals, the PPP highlighted that the PPP candidate won in Umerkot on Thursday. The people of Sindh have proven time and again that they are with us.

He further added that I am grateful to the people of Umerkot. The people of Umerkot gave a historic defeat to the opponents. Our opponents were not even able to show their faces.
The PPP chief extended that the people of Umerkot defeated the people of Islamabad, some people wanted to create a distance between the people and me, the people of Sindh are still with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, the people of Sindh reject the canals project, whenever we go out, we definitely come to the historical city of Hyderabad.
