Aliya Hamza Granted Post-Arrest Bail in Police Threat Case

23 April, 2025 14:41

A local court has approved the post-arrest bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aliya Hamza in a case involving alleged threats to law enforcement officials and obstruction of a public road during a recent workers’ convention.

Judicial Magistrate Qamar Abbas Tarrar sanctioned the bail against surety bonds worth Rs. 100,000. Hamza was apprehended last Friday along with five other PTI activists during a political gathering in the Rawalpindi Airport vicinity. Authorities had accused the group of disrupting traffic flow and issuing threats to the police.

Following her arrest, Hamza was remanded to Adiala Jail for 14 days. However, with the new court ruling in place, she now qualifies for release upon submission of the bail bond.

The PTI leader was represented in court by her legal team, led by senior advocate Muhammad Faisal Malik. According to the legal counsel, all required bail documents and sureties are being processed today, with expectations of her release shortly.

As per procedural instructions, the court has ordered the bail documents to be forwarded to the Jhelum District Jail, where Hamza is currently detained, facilitating her release.

This case is among a series of legal actions recently launched against PTI leadership and party workers amid ongoing political tension and intensified crackdowns on opposition activities nationwide.
