Pakistan Stock Exchange to Remain Closed on May 28 for Youm-e-Takbeer
Karachi: In the wake of Labor Day, the Sindh government on Friday has declared May 1 a public holiday.
In this regard, public holiday notification has also been issued on May 1st, Labor Day.
According to the notification, government and semi-government offices will remain closed across the province on Thursday, while schools, colleges, and universities will also remain closed on May 1.
Earlier, a fake notification claiming a public holiday in Karachi on Friday, April 26, 2024, has gone viral on social media.
The post falsely stated that government offices, schools, and businesses would close due to a strike against Israeli attacks on Gaza. However, the Commissioner Karachi’s office confirmed the notice is not official and urged citizens to ignore it.
The viral message declared a city-wide holiday to “ensure public safety” during the strike. It claimed all government and private institutions, including schools, would shut down. Authorities clarified this is false, and no official holiday has been announced.
