COAS warns India against water hostilities, propaganda

26 April, 2025 12:25

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has delivered a strong message to India, warning against aggressive rhetoric and water-related hostilities, emphasizing that history cannot be changed by propaganda.

Speaking at a passing-out parade ceremony, the army chief reiterated Pakistan’s ideological roots, firmly anchoring them in the Two-Nation Theory.

Addressing the newly graduated cadets, General Munir said, “We Muslims are fundamentally different from Hindus in every aspect of life — our religion, customs, traditions, thoughts, and aspirations are distinct.” He emphasized that these differences were the very reason Pakistan was created, following tremendous sacrifices by its forefathers.

“Our ancestors rendered unmatched sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan. Their unwavering struggle led to the establishment of a new homeland,” he said. “The Two-Nation Theory has always been the bedrock of Pakistan’s existence, and no Pakistani harbors even the slightest doubt about it.”

General Munir also pushed back against Indian media narratives, especially what he referred to as the “so-called ‘Godi media’”, accusing them of spreading misinformation and rewriting history to serve their own agenda.

“Indian media, especially the so-called ‘Godi media’, is attempting to conceal facts through lies and propaganda. However, no amount of distortion can alter history,” he stated. “Their efforts to undermine the Two-Nation Theory are futile. The founding father of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, articulated the Two-Nation Theory in clear and unequivocal terms.”

The Army Chief’s remarks come at a time of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent increase in diplomatic and military friction between the two neighbors.

By reaffirming Pakistan’s ideological foundation and issuing a clear warning to India, COAS Asim Munir sent a strong message: Pakistan stands ready to defend its territory and its beliefs, no matter the challenge.
