Jamiat Ahle Hadees Chief Maulana Sajid Mir passes away

A great religious and political leader of Pakistan, Maulana Professor Sajid Mir, passed away in Lahore on Saturday at the age of 85.

According to his family, he had been seriously ill for some time. He was suffering from heart disease and had undergone a backbone surgery in recent months.

Professor Sajid Mir was the Chairman of Jamiat Ahle Hadees Pakistan. He was also known for his long services in the Senate of Pakistan and his deep knowledge in both Islamic and English studies. His death is a huge loss to the country and the religious community.

Born on October 2, 1938, in Sialkot, Punjab, Professor Sajid Mir came from a religious Kashmiri family. He was a relative of the respected Islamic scholar Muhammad Ibrahim Mir Sialkoti. Sajid Mir was highly educated. He completed a Master’s degree in English literature from the University of the Punjab in 1960. Later, he completed another Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from the same university in 1969.

Maulana Sajid Mir dedicated his entire life to serving Islam, spreading religious knowledge, and guiding people through both academic and political platforms. He was widely respected across all religious groups for his humble nature, wisdom, and scholarship.

In March 2009, he was elected to the Senate of Pakistan on a reserved seat for technocrats and ulema as a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). During his time in the Senate, he served on various key committees. He was the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology. He also served as a member of committees on Rules of Procedures and Privileges, Government Assurances, and Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.

His contributions were not limited to politics. He was also a scholar, writer, and speaker who inspired thousands of students and religious followers. He gave sermons, wrote articles, and took part in national debates on Islamic and social matters.

In March 2018, he was elected as the Ameer (Leader) of Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan. Under his leadership, the party focused on promoting peace, religious education, and unity among Muslims in Pakistan.

Many political leaders, religious scholars, and followers have expressed deep sorrow over his passing. They described him as a man of honor, patience, and great knowledge. His funeral prayers will be held in Lahore, and thousands are expected to attend to pay their final respects.

Professor Sajid Mir leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and education. His work and dedication will continue to inspire future generations.
