Larkana records heaviest May rainfall since 1991

Larkana, a city in Sindh, just experienced its heaviest May rainfall in 30 years. According to the Meteorological Department, the city recorded 38mm of rain in just one day on Monday, breaking all records for May since 1991.

Back in 1991, the total rain for May was only 24mm, and the highest one-day rainfall that month was 15mm on May 21. This makes the recent downpour highly unusual.

Experts believe this sudden heavy rain is a result of changing weather patterns caused by climate change. Since May is usually dry in Larkana, local officials and weather experts are concerned.

While the rain caused some water to collect in low-lying areas, thankfully, there hasn’t been any major damage so far. Weather experts are closely monitoring the situation and have advised people to stay updated with official weather reports, as more rain could still be on the way.
