False flag operations and extrajudicial killings expose brutality in Occupied Kashmir
Indian state repression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the Narendra Modi-led government has intensified alarmingly, with false flag operations and fake encounters increasingly used to target Kashmiri youth.
Since the orchestrated Pahalgam incident on April 22, Indian forces have killed at least five innocent young men without due process. These extrajudicial killings are part of a systematic campaign aimed at suppressing dissent in the disputed region.
In a recent development, drone footage from Kulgam district revealed the tragic fate of a young man, Imtiaz Ahmed Magray, seen leaping into a river. Indian media swiftly branded him a terrorist, but locals contest this claim. According to residents, Imtiaz had been arrested during a routine search operation, tortured in custody, and later martyred. His body was discovered dumped in a drain, retrieved by locals—yet another grim example of a cover-up operation.
The incident is not isolated. It follows a disturbing pattern that began with the staged Pahalgam episode, exposing how Indian forces mislead global opinion by fabricating militant narratives and conducting fake encounters. The role of Indian mainstream media in shielding these violations through propaganda is deeply troubling.
Despite repeated concerns from human rights bodies like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the United Nations, global inaction has emboldened India. The Modi regime continues to use night raids, unlawful detentions, and systematic violence to instill fear in the Kashmiri population.
Since India revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in August 2019—claiming it would usher in peace and progress—995 Kashmiris have been killed and 2,465 injured, exposing the hollowness of these claims. In April 2025 alone, 11 Kashmiris lost their lives to Indian violence.
The prolonged conflict has devastated lives. Since 1989, over 96,000 Kashmiris have been killed by Indian forces. The silence of global powers and Western media has turned occupied Kashmir into what many call the world’s largest open-air prison. The Indian government’s relentless persecution is stripping Kashmiris of their homes, rights, and lives, with the Pahalgam incident serving as the latest justification.
This escalating humanitarian crisis demands urgent international attention. The unresolved Kashmir conflict, involving three nuclear powers, poses a severe risk to regional and global peace. Resolving it in line with international law and human rights is not just necessary—it is imperative.
