Pakistan warns India over harming agricultural economy
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, warned on Tuesday that any move to damage Pakistan’s agriculture-based economy—supporting 240 million people—would be seen as a “declaration of war.”
While speaking to a US think tank, he explained the growing tensions between Pakistan and India and repeated Pakistan’s call for a fair and transparent investigation into the Pahalgam attack.
He noted that India had not shared any evidence with Pakistan or the international community and accused India of creating war-like panic that could threaten regional peace.
Ambassador Sheikh said Pakistan is one of the nations most affected by terrorism but stands for peace with dignity. He also criticized India’s recent behavior regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it unlawful and part of a pattern of reckless actions.
This comes after the UN Security Council held a private session, requested by Pakistan, to discuss rising tensions following the Kashmir incident and India’s suspension of a key water-sharing agreement.
