World Leaders Slam India’s Aggression Against Pakistan

07 May, 2025 17:56

In a dramatic turn of events, tensions between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan soared after the Indian Army launched a major offensive, targeting multiple sites across Pakistan in what it dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor.’ The Indian government claimed the strikes were aimed at alleged terrorist camps.

Pakistan’s military retaliated quickly, asserting it had successfully hit Indian military assets and shot down several aircraft in response. The escalation has so far claimed at least 36 lives, pushing the two countries to the brink of a serious conflict.

International Community Urges Restraint

United States

U.S. President Donald Trump described the situation as “a shame” and expressed disappointment at the outbreak of violence. He called on both sides to resolve their differences through dialogue. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the U.S. was closely observing the unfolding events and maintaining communication with both nations to de-escalate the crisis.

France

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot urged calm, calling on both India and Pakistan to avoid any further military action and prioritize the protection of civilians. He acknowledged New Delhi’s concerns but emphasized peace.

Japan

Japan condemned the April 22 Kashmir terrorist attack but also warned against widening hostilities. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi called for diplomatic negotiations and mutual restraint.

United Arab Emirates

UAE’s Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed issued a plea for immediate de-escalation, emphasizing that diplomacy remains the most viable path to regional peace and stability.

Russia

Moscow, maintaining good relations with both nations, expressed deep concern. The Russian Foreign Ministry urged both sides to seek a peaceful resolution and stressed the urgency of negotiations, condemning terrorism while calling for restraint.

China

China, known for its strong strategic ties with Pakistan, reacted cautiously. Its Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that Beijing regretted India’s military action and called for both nations to avoid any steps that might destabilize the region further.

Israel Stands with India

On the other hand, Israel backed New Delhi, with Ambassador Reuven Azar affirming support for India’s right to self-defense. In a strong message posted on X, Azar stated, “There can be no safe haven for terrorists.”

As the world watches closely, global powers are urging both India and Pakistan to prioritize peace over provocation, hoping to prevent a potential military disaster in South Asia.
