The Islamabad district administration has firmly denied circulating rumors about scheduled nighttime power cuts in the capital, calling the claims entirely baseless.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad issued a clear statement rejecting reports that mosques had been used to announce instructions urging residents to switch off home lights. “These are baseless rumors. No such instructions have been issued” he emphasized, warning that legal action would be taken against anyone using mosque loudspeakers or other platforms to spread misinformation.
In light of the current security situation following heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, citizens have been advised to avoid sharing unverified news. The administration has urged the public to rely only on official sources and to verify any suspicious claims by contacting the 24/7 District Control Center.
Meanwhile, as the regional standoff intensifies, Indian drone activity continues in Pakistani airspace. Security forces have successfully intercepted and shot down 77 drones so far in response to repeated violations.
A day earlier, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, during a joint press conference with DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, reiterated Pakistan’s right to retaliate at a time and manner of its choosing in response to India’s violations. He noted that Pakistan has so far shown restraint and maturity, confining its actions to lawful self-defense in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely while advising the public to stay informed through official communication channels only.
